'I want to showcase our culture to the West'
Shilpa Shetty is all set to "showcase" our culture to the west. Bollywood dancing. If you are thinking what is wrong with that...
Not that the entertainment value of bollywoods jhatkas is any less than the lip-locking on hollywood screens, but to call that a showcase of our culture is a stretch.
For those of you that are going to accuse me of being sexist, lets wait till King khan decides to showcase India's "culture". If "sex sells" is your next clichéd addition, I know. I buy. But that doesn't change the fact that this is not Indian culture. Heavily borrowed from the cabaret style of the jazz era and hip-shaking aka jhatkas of the hip-hop and latino culture, it is far from "our" culture.
The big-brother cry baby, should work on what she knows best (though that in itself is debatable), acting.
Leave the dancing and cultural exposure to the pros.

I agree with you. But don't you think it is only going to get worse? Ten years down the line, topless women on TV would be a common sight. Sadly, At this point, I don't think there is any looking back.
Even if TV decided to expose the real culture, it ll fail, like you said. So yes, your idea of shooting people down is splendid.
This is not TV. I can't care less what they show on TV. You see, I don't own a TV. My problem isn't with women showing more or less skin, it is with bollywood assuming it is a showcase of Indian culture. It's just a BAD BAD PR job.
And yeah, the army is recruiting now.

Well i cant believe am sayin this but i agree with u...all this big brother drama n shilpa shetty boastin of takin the indian culture and values to people all over the world (now apparently that shez got such a huge platform) is all crap..she had nothng but money in mind wen she got into the show.(even then she ws boasting of the same thing..indian culture..indian values..all for my country..blah blah blah..but now shez made it clear she'll just promote bollywood dancing :P)..not that its a bad thng...every one wants fame n money but rather than putting it as "showcasin the indian culture" she could hav used more appropriate terms like showcasin her..ahem...talent..bollywood dancing right??:P
And dear depressed doormat please stay away from the armed forces for god sake! u'l just be a misfit like shilpa shetty whos trying to act as the flag bearer of indian culture!!
whoever said anything about joining the armed forces... we are starting our own... want in?
not till am alive..aftr that we wont be able to meet..u'l be in hell(for all the articles here) n i'll be in heaven :P
